Moto 3

In a qualifying session that saw the first seventeen riders qualify within one second of each other pole position went to Alexis Masbou (Saxoprint RTG Honda) in a time of 2’ 06.170. This was Masbou’s first career pole finishing 0.067 second ahead of second place Isaac Vinales (Husqvarna Factory Laglisse) with Niccolo Antonelli (Ongetta-Rivacold Honda) a further 0.008 second back in third.

The second row of the starting grid is made up of Francesco Bagnaia (Mapfre Team Mahindra) in fourth, John McPhee (Saxoprint RTG Honda) in fifth and Moto3 rookie Fabio Quartararo (Estrella Galicia 0,0 Honda) sixth.

Moto 2

Despite crashing and ending his qualifying session early Sam Lowes (Speed Up Racing) took his first ever Moto 2 pole finishing ahead of Johann Zarco (Ajo Motorsport Kalex) in second 0.332 second behind with reigning Moto 2 World Champion Esteve Rabat (Estrella Galicia Marc VDS Kalex) a further 0.058 second back in third spot.

In fourth spot, heading the second row of the starting grid was Sandro Cortese (Dynavolt Intact GP Kalex) with Jonas Folger (AGR Team Kalex) in fifth and Xavier Simeon (Federal Oil Gresini Moto 2 Kalex) in sixth.

Andrea Doizioso (Ducati Team) took pole right at the end of Q2 in a qualifying session that saw 3 Ducatis qualify in the top 5. Second spot went to Dani Pedrosa (Repsol Honda Team) with team mate and reigning World Champion Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team) in third.

Fourth place went to Andrea Iannone (Ducati Team) withYonny Hernandez (Pramac racing Ducati) in fifth and Jorge Lorenzo (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP) in sixth. The top Suzuki qualifier was Aleix Espargaro (Team Suzuki Ecstar) in eleventh with the the new Aprilias having a poor qualifying with Alvaro Bautista (Aprilia Racing Team Gresini) their top qualifier in 21st.

MotoGP rookie Jack Miller (CWM LCR Honda) crashed during Q1 and finished 22nd.
