MotoGP

 

After taking an early lead in the race Valentino Rossi (Movistar Yamaha) had an intense battle with Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda) with both making some aggressive overtaking moves until Marquez crashed on the tenth lap leaving Rossi virtually unchallenged for the remainder of the race to take his, and Yamaha’s first victory of the season.

 

Second place went to pole sitter Jorge Lorenzo (Movistar Yamaha) with third going to Dani Pedrosa (Repsol Honda) who finished just ahead of Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati Team) in fourth. Marquez eventually remounted and finished the race in fifteenth position.

 

The top open class finisher was Karel Abraham (Cardion AB Motoracing Honda) in eleventh place.

Moto2

 

Esteve Rabat (Marc VDS Racing Team Kalex) won his seventh race of the season overtaking his team mate Mika Kallio (Marc VDS Racing Team Kalex) with eight laps to go. Kallio finished second with third place going to Johann Zarco (AirAsia Caterham Suter).

 

With this win Rabat extends his Championship lead to 22 points over Kallio with Maverick Vinales (Paginas Amarillas HP 40 Kalex), who finished fourth in the race, a further 54 points behind Kallio.

Moto3

 

Despite crashing in Warm-up and injuring both legs Alex Rins (Estrella Galicia 0,0 Honda) took out his second consecutive win beating his team mate Alex Marquez (Estrella Galicia 0,0 Honda) in second by a narrow margin. Championship leader Jack Miller (Red Bull KTM Ajo) finished third after leading the race in the early stages before falling back.

 

Miller’s Championship lead has now been reduced to 9 point over Marquez in second place with Rins a further 11 points behind Marquez in third place.

Jorge Lorenzo (Movistar Yamaha) scored his first pole of the season and his first since Motegi in 2013. Second, in his best ever MotoGP qualifying was Andrea Iannone (Pramac Racing Ducati) with third spot going to Valentino Rossi (Movistar Yamaha), his best qualifying of the season.

 

Reigning World Champion and current Championship leader, Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda) finished fourth just ahead of his team mate DaniPedrosa (Repsol Honda) in fifth. Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati Team) completed the second row of the starting grid in sixth.

 

The top open class qualifier was Aleix Espargaro (NGM Forward Racing Yamaha) in eighth.

Mika Kallio (Marc VDS Racing Team Kalex) took his third pole of the season finishing just ahead of his team mate Esteve Rabat (Marc VDS Racing Team Kalex) who took second spot with Thomas Luthi (Interwetten Paddock Moto2 Suter) a very close third.

 

Fourth place went to Maverick Vinales (Paginas Amarillas HP 40 Kalex) with Dominique Aegerter (Technomag CareXpert Suter) in fifth and Johann Zarco (AirAsia Caterham Suter) completing the second row of the starting grid in sixth.

Jorge in action. To strike while the iron is hot?

 

Jack Miller (Red Bull KTM Ajo) took his seventh pole of the season beating second placed Niklas Ajo (Avant Tecno Husqvarna Ajo) by just 0.004s. Third spot went to Alex Rins (Estrella Galicia 0,0 Honda) with Alex Marquez (Estrella Galicia 0,0 Honda) who crashed during the final stages of qualifying finishing fourth.

 

Fifth qualifier was Miguel Oliveira (Mahindra Racing) with the final spot on the second row of the starting grid going to Danny Kent (Red Bull Husqvarna Ajo) in sixth.

After a race long battle with Jorge Lorenzo (Movistar Yamaha) Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda) took his eleventh race win of the season, the first rider to win eleven races in a season since Valentino Rossi in 2005. Second place went to Jorge Lorenzo with third going to Valentino Rossi (Movistar Yamaha) after battling for most of the race with Dani Pedrosa (Repsol Honda) who finished fourth and Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati Team) fifth.

 

This was Rossi’s 246th start in the Grand Prix premier class, a class record.

 

Top open class finisher was Aleix Espargaro (NGM Forward Racing Yamaha) in ninth.

With his sixth win of the season Esteve Rabat (Marc VDS Racing Team Kalex) won an exciting race from teammate Mika Kallio (Marc VDS Racing Team Kalex) thus extending his championship lead to seventeen points over Kallio in second place. Third was Maverick Vinales (Paginas Amarillas HP 40 Kalex) with just over 0.2s covering all three as they crossed the finish line.

 

Pole getter Johann Zarco (AirAsia Caterham Suter) after initially battling for the lead with Kallio eventually dropped back to finish fourth.

In yet another exciting Moto3 race Alex Rins (Estrella Galicia 0,0 Honda) just beat his teammate Alex Marquez (Estrella Galicia 0,0 Honda) over the finish line to take the win by just 0.011s with rookie Enea Bastianini (Junior Team GO&FUN Moto3 KTM) a further 0.061s behind Marquez in third.

 

In fourth was Miguel Oliveira (Mahindra Racing) a further 0.051s behind Bastianini.

 

Championship leader Jack Miller (Red Bull KTM Ajo) finished in sixth position which saw his championship lead reduced to 10 points ahead of second place Alex Marquez.
